Permaculture is a Design Science.
To be a good Permaculture designer, you need to know how to design.
Prior to discovering Permaculture, John made his living designing spaces and buildings for 20 years.

Williamsburg, Brooklyn


This apartment complex in the neighborhood of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, NY is located on a busy street.
Though the zoning laws of NY can be quite rigid in terms of the building's massing, we were still able to add some playful windows.

They let the light in, but maintain privacy within the living space of the home.
​
The towers of this project were designed to be clad in a dark grey 'folded' zinc, which would have greatly improved the beauty of this façade...

While living in Los Angeles, John worked on this project designed by the Swiss architecture firm AGPS. Located in Nichols Canyon it overlooks downtown and the sprawling city below.

Pompei A.D. - NYC



John's only venture into commercial architecture came while living in New York, where he worked for the firm Pompei A.D., now known as Pompei C3. This allowed John the opportunity to work on designs for Motorola, Sigrid Olsen and Urban Outfitters.
